5th Annual MREA Burn Center Benefit Golf Tournament
More than $19,000 was raised at MREA's Fifth Annual Burn Center Benefit Golf Tournament. Thirty-four teams of talented golfers enjoyed sunny, steamy weather at the tournament on Aug. 20. Teams from 16 electric cooperatives, 26 vendors and all three Burn Centers played the challenging Riverwood National Golf Course in Otsego. The Regions team took home the Burn Center traveling trophy for the second year in a row. The tournament's mission is to provide relief for the families of burn victims in our cooperative family when they need it most and support the hospitals in providing the latest technology to ensure that Minnesota lineworkers receive the best treatment. The first place foursome was Brian and Kirby Carr of Carr's Tree Service, Chuck Healy of ElectroTech and Steve Carr of Wilson Company Promotions. The event was generously sponsored by 19 electric cooperatives and 31 vendors. Many thanks also to the Golf Committee that works hard all year to plan and execute this event: Pat Whalen, Great River Energy; Joe Belz, Lake Region Electric Cooperative; Chuck Healy, ElectroTech; Darrol Mason, DUECO; Mark Walford, McLeod Co-op Power; and Julie Jelen, Carolyn Sampson and Kurt Kumlin from MREA. The committee hopes to increase the number of cooperatives that participate in next year's event. See all the photos and download some for yourself.
