The Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA) is a nonprofit trade association representing Minnesota’s electric cooperatives, which serve over 1.7 million people. Some member cooperatives have applied for New ERA funding to help cover costs associated with the clean energy transition.

Below is a statement from Darrick Moe, CEO of MREA, regarding today’s New ERA announcement:

“We are pleased to see New ERA funding being awarded to cooperatives serving Minnesota consumers. This funding will support our cooperatives in providing affordable electricity while working toward Minnesota’s ambitious goal of achieving 100 percent carbon-free energy by 2040.”

“Dairyland will use these funds to reduce carbon emissions by incorporating more renewable energy into its portfolios. Other MREA members have been selected as well and are awaiting the final award amounts. Investments like New ERA are crucial for Minnesota’s cooperatives to maintain affordable and reliable power.”
